The demure singer-songwriter and musician is blooming beyond their first self-produced album, To Be Continued, each sensuous song an intimate gift that cradles listeners in a trance of their choice.
When I released my first EP, it was for fun. I would just buy beats from other people. But when I discovered that someone I knew used one of my beats in their song, I decided that I wanted to make music from scratch. It made me feel more original. That’s when I started using GarageBand and released my single “Healing,” which was produced and composed by me.
My parents would play The Beatles and The Beach Boys at home growing up. I was more into R&B. Since I have kind of a softer voice, and especially because I listened to artists like Sade and Enya, I was inspired to make music similar to theirs.
To Be Continued is about self-love. It’s about growth. Healing. When I wrote the lyrics for the album, there really wasn’t a target in mind. The album doesn’t talk about a specific relationship, it doesn’t talk about myself specifically. And I wanted my lyrics to be that way. I wanted my music to become whatever it is you’re feeling.
My next album is in the works. I haven’t been inspired lately to write as much. I was taking a break, getting into photography, drawing a lot, and experimenting with a lot of linoleum art. It’s therapeutic. But I’m still working on my music. Right now, I’m focusing more on the technical aspects. More production, adding more of my own guitar playing. I’m trying to learn the bass, too. I’m really just experimenting—so stay tuned.
